Karen Greeley (Fallbrook, California)
My art studies met a fork in the road when I encountered my first loom and became immediately absorbed with creating woven textiles. While I continue to value the inherent thread by thread structure of cloth, I am increasingly drawn to the unique challenges in using fiber to express images and abstract symbols using tapestry techniques.
Creating an image while simultaneously constructing the grid of the textile is necessarily limiting and constrained, but it is a discipline that is endlessly challenging and expressive.
